The project proposes the renewal of an existing 400 m2 ground floor to create a dental clinic. The initial space is the consequence of the combination of several rooms and the resulting geometry is therefore
very irregular, with no inner order and very deep in comparison to the façade width. Our aim is, thus, to achieve the construction of an interior street, in order to spread the feeling of being outdoor once inside the building.
In order to achieve this, we developed several spatial strategies:
1_ The façade elements, 10 mm-thick-aluminium-sheets-made boxes, colonize the interior, generating a certain memory of the street in the user’s mind.
2_ A long-shaped, wooden closet visually links all the spaces and in the manner of an Ariadne’s thread it will guide the patients and staff through the clinic.
3_ Whenever there is a spatial filter needed, a glass-made box with a garden within will create a semitransparent thick wall. In the reception area, the garden is planted with two old olive trees, resembling the surrounding territory, traditionally dedicated to olive oil industry.
